I would like to take the opportunity to thank each and every one of the Puyallup Tribal people who came in to vote. You are making a change—-it's important to voice your concerns and you can do this by voting.

Don't forget there is another vote on June 7th I urge you to request your absentees or mark your calendar, and we will see you there.

So, thanks to all of you again.

Nancy Shippentower-Games
candidate for Puyallup Tribal Council

Hello to the Puyallup Tribal Membership!

My name is Nancy Shippentower-Games and I am running for Puyallup Tribal Council. As we are all aware of, it is election time again and it is important that everyone VOTES each time we have elections. Sometimes it is that one vote that makes or breaks a close election. If you are unable to make it in to vote, I urge each of you to please fill out an absentee ballot request form because your vote counts.
I am running this year with the expectation of making positive changes in our Tribe. Your vote to support me is seeing your ideas and suggestions in progress. I am available to hear any ideas you have and help make these positive ideas a true reality! Let's work together as a team and help mold our Tribe to be a total success that other Tribes will want to know our secrets of success.
Below are a few of the goals I have set for myself. Your ideas and suggestions can be added, if you let me know of them:
Open communication between the membership and Tribal Council. I am all for more membership meetings that are informative and we are able to have respectful communication going between both parties (Membership and Tribal Council). Let's put our creativity together and come to positive conclusions or ideas that will help benefit all of us!
Economic Growth in our Tribe. I believe the membership has the right to know where we need improvement within the economic growth and to be part of the planning process. It is unfair to keep us uninformed of our progress. This tribe has the capability of making millions more than what we are doing now. We need to plan together and give our membership a voice that Tribal Council will hear. By working together we can have the most successful Tribe in the Northwest! This involves teamwork!
We need to concentrate on our youth, our future! Rather than making promises of future plans, let’s make it a reality! Let's have the plans drawn and have a facility that will keep our youth from the streets! Somewhere safe that we don't have to worry about drive by shootings and worry about the safety of our children.
We need to begin teaching our kids early on to say no to drugs and gang activity. Let's begin at Chief Leschi School! We can create some anti-gang posters and anti-drug campaigns! Prizes awarded to the children that design the most creative or effective poster!
The parents have spoken about their concerns regarding their children receiving their trust money in one large sum. Some of the children are not following through with school to get their diploma, others have people borrowing their money and not repaying them. Let's create a committee and invite the 17 & 18 year olds and get their positive ideas. We can sit with parents, teachers and accountants and circulate our ideas to make this something that the children will not resist but feel privileged to participate in. This is something that can help the future of our children as they embrace adulthood!
Let's work at getting our casinos done!
We need to look at our debt and get this paid down! We could benefit by other business projects and use this to reduce our debt!
Let us become self regulated! Why pay the Washington State Gambling Commission fees when we could be self regulated and doing the backgrounds ourselves?
Again, this is just a few of the challenges and goals I have set forth. These are not just campaign promises to get me elected into office, these are my true goals and incentives I am promising to you that I will address with my colleagues on Tribal Council. When I am elected into office, this will be a reality that took you and I to achieve.

Thank you, and again I urge you to please contact me and let me know what your ideas or suggestions are. Your ideas can reflect the future success of OUR TRIBE.

Sincerely,
Nancy Shippentower-Games
Full Circle President

I have always maintained a positive attitude towards election. the important thing to remember is that WE are the TRIBE; WE are the PEOPLE; We are ONE! TOGETHER with hard work and determination WE as the tribe can accomplish a lot and get the work done. We can no longer tolerate empty promises. nor can we sacrifice our children, we need to do something positive to enhance our survival as a TRIBE. I voted for Nancy. Just cause of the fact I don't want to see Herman Dillon on Council anymore. Silvia neither. I read once in a article somewhere floating on line, that Herman paid a huge amount of money for a SEAT at a baseball game...which came from the tribe.... Silvia made someone else pay her taxes??? What is that? Is that all our tribe is about...? Money? what about Tradition, Community, our elders and especially our children.? I don't like to see the greed in people who think that money is all our tribe is about. I don't like to be so negitive, but Our tribe seriously needs a real good leader who can make a huge impact. It's long over due. EVERYONE should get a chance. So my vote goes to Nancy
