Full Circle is excited about the healthy changes in our tribe

Dear Puyallup Tribal Members

The past two weeks have been exciting and things are moving right along. We have been working on Casino development as well as our other facilities such as the Wellness Center and Elder Center; the tribal council is committed to making these projects a reality.

Full Circle of the Puyallup Nation, is currently updating its goals and objectives as it relates to the community concerns that were raised in the beginning, over two years ago.

Although our goals and objectives may be reprioritized our mission will continue to remain strong for the betterment of our tribe and the membership.

Our Mission:
Full Circle is committed to traditional values, spiritual teaching, and the health & wellness of our people. Through mutual understanding and respect we promote government reform and fiscal responsibility to ensure survival of future generations. By bringing our community together, enlisting our elders, and nurturing our youth, we will once again achieve a strong, united and balanced tribal community for years to come.

Full Circle is excited about the healthy changes in our tribe; the tribe is providing more events for the community as well as healthy and safe opportunities for our children.

Full Circle raises our hands up to Lucia Earl-Mitchell, Youth Coordinator, for her compassion and vision on behalf of all our children, Thank You.

The commitment to change is a long challenging road but we need to look at change as an opportunity, an opportunity that can meet these challenges head on as we work together to over come them.

Full Circle is grateful for all its members and supporters, as we look forward; we have a lot of work ahead of us. As an update we have appointed new officers in order to keep our momentum.

We would like it if you would come join us in welcoming our new officers Nancy Shippentower-Games, President and Robert S. Satiacum, Vice-President at Full Circle of the Puyallup Nation’s 2nd annual Community Appreciation Rally on July 7, 2007 12:00 noon at Portland Ave Park located at 35th and Portland Ave.

At the rally there will be fun things for the kids and a good ol' salmon dinner.

Sincerely,

James V. Miles, Former President of FCPN

Thank to all of you for the support that you have given Full Circle; I would like to thank the members for my election as the President of Full Circle.

It's amazing what we can do as tribal members getting together to have dinner and recreational sports.
We recently had a salmon dinner, all our dinners are free, our members bring side dishes after we decide what we are cooking, and David Bean is the one who usually supplies the main dishes and the bouncy toys. And we had a baseball game and we had a good turn out -- it's too bad that the Puyallup Tribal News doesn't make it to any of our events and we have had a lot, WE are tribal members coming together to bring a positive impact within our tribe, to structure our tribal government to work as a government and realize that it has several tribal members and not just a few select...

We have had several dinners, community events and gatherings---we go out into the tribal people and ask them their concerns, WE invite everyone to our functions, regardless of who you are and who we are.

It's time for all of us to come together to bring about harmony, peace and prosperity to all our members.

We are getting ready to have our community meeting, so check out our web site for the date.

We hope you enjoy the summer and look forward to see you at our meetings. Maybe next time we could get John Weymer there to check it out and put it in the paper.............

There are still issues that need to be changes and we are updating our list, thankful we were able to elect two of our candidates into council James Miles and David Bean. We will post all statements as long as they are positive inputs and productive, we don't need the negativity, we live with it every day.

Our people, ancestors, sacrificed their livelihood for you to have what you have today, many went to jail, died and fell into depression to try to change the laws, federal guidelines and the united states governments. We did that so now lets go with what we have and set positive goals for our younger people, all of them.

As we go about everyday it is good to think about the future, about your children and the ones not yet born yet, to look at what we will give to them, what we will leave them and hopefully it will all be good...

So thank you for looking in on us and have a great day and a good summer! By the way we are looking at setting up camps for huckleberries and hunting so stay posted.

All my prayer to all of you
    Nancy Shippentower-Games

hi to all my relations our canoe family has come home and i am sad it had to end because of the beautiful feeling to get away from the rat race of the outside world being with our people singing songs and dancing being next to OUR MOTHER EARTH was the best feeling ever and so I wanted to thank the PUYALLUP TRIBE for supporting the best they could for our future generations. So back to reality I guess. The different people we met the ones who shared their knowledge and shared their songs with the PEOPLE OF ALL THE FIRST PEOPLES, THE TREATYS that were signed, the Chiefs that were recognized in front of their peoples. Their is no dollar amount that you could ever put on what we learned this last month not only who we are as the First Peoples but who we are as a community as a whole. There was so much taught and hopefully these valuable lessons will carry on like they say the next seven generations. So I would like to thank the leaders from the Puyallup Tribe for being there, also sharing the time with us and experiencing the best thing you can hold with you forever. The youth of our community continues to represent us in a good way. They are carrying on the songs and learning the teachings from our elders oy.So I just wanted to say thanks to all who made this possible for the future generations of our peoples survival. WE HAVE ONLY JUST BEGUN TO ALL MY RELATIONS. GOD BLESS AND LETS KEEP THIS GOOD THING GOING THROUGHOUT THE YEAR HOYT

good evening 2 every1, just wanted 2 say our youth our continuing the songs at the sweat lodge 2nite and it sounded so beautiful 2 hear the new songs that were shared with our youth on the canoe journey. We are so blessed to have our youth committing them selves with learning the songs and the teachings of our ancestors. The Chief Leschi students we have out their representing our Puyallup Tribal Community. I just wanted to say how much I appreciate the outstanding job that they are doing and I am very Grateful to be a part of their lives. Ive noticed they love what they do and they also love and respect their people. We also need some young warriorettes to come join in and represent. If there is anyone interested get back at the Young Nations singers. We can be reached on this web site. GOD BLESS OUR COMMUNITY HOYT

I just wanted to say good job to Lucia for her dedication to the youth. The activities lined up is something the youth will hold on to the rest of their lives. I also wanted to mention the issue about the Port here at Puyallup Nation I'am very concerned about what I heard. Our Native Peoples have had priority on the jobs I thought. Well Chad Wright is lobbying to open up the jobs for non-natives having that same right as us as NATIVES I feel this will be a mistake for all issues concerned the cigarette issue, the firework's issue the Tax issue. We should not be in court for any of these issues facing our NATIVE PEOPLE. We have Sovereign rights as Native Tribes we need to exercise them and as Indigenous peoples of the world the Treaty that was signed up in Lummi for all the Nations that were represented. We need to represent the future of our people. So this is something that needs a lot of careful decision making for not just this generation but at least seven more. What they offer is a drop in the bucket compared to what is going to come in. This might look good now but remember if its to good to be true be careful theres something that will come back and bite you in the you know what. Our ANCESTORS had a good sense of protecting our rights and the future NATIVE PEOPLES of this land. Our LEADERS have education and compassion for the people. Come together and remember what has always happen to our NATIVE PEOPLES. I feel if we open up the jobs to non-natives having the same right as our NATIVE PEOPLES pretty soon our own people will be left behind while their hiring their own in these lavish paying jobs. I dont know what line they fed you, but I hope you don't bite the bate hook line and sinker. The Port will also deplete many other resources so our people our going to need these jobs, so we as Native peoples should have the first priority. Puyallup Tribal members, other tribes and down the line.Remember look seven generations down the RED ROAD. GOD BLESS THE DECISIONS THAT WILL BE MADE. Think before you leap.

Is the comment left by Future Gens for the port only. That whole tribal issue better paying jobs and so on, that has been within the Casino for sometime now all the Tribal members get stepped on and have yet to be trained for these "Top Notch" positions. Working in the casino there are members who are told not to tell people they are Puyallup due to people feeling intimidated. So basically they will hire you but be ashamed of who you are, the Asian hosts and the events are outrageous translators and the whole worx. But dont aknowledge yourself as Puyallup since others are threatened. Where are we a 3rd world? It doesn't get any easier and we also have no sort of commitee for any sort of discrimination. They should have a board or a person to assist the members like the bingo hall. I hope others take this into consideration since we are the reason the money comes in.
