Money for Votes: It's Wrong!

It is our sad duty to report that evidence of a Tribal Council Candidate's attempt to "buy" votes has been submitted to the  PuyallupTribalNews.com web site. The evidence is of money given to certain Puyallup families, to assure their votes in this Saturday's upcoming primary.

Out of respect for the families involved, PuyallupTribalNews.com has declined to make the information public at this time although we are investivating the matter.

We encourage all voters to vote your conscience, and not be swayed by money, promises of favors or personal benefits. Buying votes is wrong and should not be tolerated or allowed.

During this primary election, it is more important than ever to for all eligible tribal members to show up on Saturday and vote based on who they believe is best able to lead the Tribe in a positive direction, and not let the election process be corrupted by unfair and illegal practices.

If you feel have knowledge of any unfair or illegal campaigning, email in confidence to: webmaster@puyalluptribalnews.com

Larry LaPointe initially bought his votes by assuring that Puyallup Tribal Members would get a per capita payment. Every candidate that concedes to the voters and supports a per capita payment for the individual at the expense of the group is attempting to buy votes.

Catering to per capita payments is pandering and buying votes. Period.

if Larry has said that, and done that, it says something about our greed. We need to put the Tribe, as a whole, first, then reap the benefits, as we become totally self sufficient.
