I have worked many years at the tribe and I VOICE  my opinions, I have been active working with people who want changes, Yes, that is what we need in this upcoming election——in order to preserve our rights as a people WE need security, guidance and wisdom—to ensure a future for our children.  We need leaders in there that truly reflects the deep shared visions and values of everyone within our tribe, to create a great unity and who has a tremendous commitment to our tribal constitution its criteria and guidelines by which we govern ourselves.

Each one of us has roots and the ability to trace our ancestors to share these memories with our children and to give them wings to fly, for without our ancestors we would have nothing and would have became non-existence, without their commitments to ensure our tribe would prosper and be alive they sacrificed and struggled to remain independent of state governance——I am so humbly grateful to my parents, grandparents, ancestors and to all the people who have came into my life to give me guidance, life lessons and love so that I could pass this on to my people.

I hate to be repetitious but I will, because WE only need to look and see what has been going on for the past 20 years (and it has been very little), we lost  a lot of people waiting for the elder’s facility, youth center, longhouse, new casino and many many other projects these councilmember have promised time and time again, and we still wait…..SO LET’S GET TO WORK AND quit procrastinating and GET THESE PROJECTS GOING…LET’S work together to solve our tribal projects, problems and enhance our future.

Our tribal council keeps secrets,- ——remember this is an elected position and all accountability needs to be public to our people.   We have general membership meetings and nothing is resolved, the same problems are brought up at each meeting and yet the council refuses to address the issues and remain mute.

We need to be proactive to be organized and united.  TO MAKE POSITIVE SOCIAL CHANGE, within our tribal government, community and environment, to protect our children from undue influences and enhance their lives with an agenda to promote future leaders, teachers, lawyers, and any  other profession they desire.  To bring back our culture, traditions and spirituality  so our children can be proud of who they are and empower them with the abilities to write, speak and be heard by the leaders of the tribe.  To provide a safety net around them and give them our support and love.

With so many issues coming in the State Legislation, Federal Governments our tribal council should be in the forefront, instead of micro managing the programs at home and the big decision is “who are they going to hire?”  With the salary they receive, they should be the spokesperson for the tribe, to lobby the legislation to be visible within the governments to oversee the important legislations that could affect our tribal status in regards to the casino compact, port development, judicial issues and the waiver of sovereignty immunity.  To be participants within tribal community events.

To contract an independent accounting firm or attorney to oversee the children’s trust funds—-so that there are no mistakes again with the income tax issues.

Once again I encourage all of you to vote, You are important, your opinion, concerns, and words are valued.   If elected into the tribal council I would encourage all of us to work together, to respect each and every person AND TO PROTECT THE INTREGRITY OF THE PUYALLUP TRIBE.

THE TRIBE’S STRENGTH IS IN YOUR VOTE!!!

WOW! That gives us some hope, in case you don't remember who I am, I was a younster on the EastSide when you were on council sometime back. You invited me to my first sweatlodge and the place was a very sacred place, the Red Road it what you told me about, most would not have let me in there home baCK then. I have seen many of the council and talked with many, not one has heard of the sacred sweat or know of the red road our people should be aware. That is Pride, after that there was some hope. I have came across you on several occassion, you have showed me respect and never forgot me. I will pray that you make it, this time. The slander at the last election was crazy, Monica sure does have nerve. We (you&me) met not at the bar but in a good NDN way. Thank you my prayers are with you and your family. With the truth you speak many are afraid, you and James would do well. James is getting a run for his, but he has had to make his way up. I would sure love to see you in there, you have always shared your times with many and have supported many now it is your turn to get that in return. Thank you for being a true NDN and sharing with many. HOYT!

I have documents that prove facts, not rumours nor induendoes======facts--our council doesn't listen to the truth only if it involves them. James is an upstanding young man who is ready to take the leadership role, he has been though that most of you been though so give him a chance like You gave David Bean and he'll serve U well.

This Message is for Nancy and James after reading some of the bashing notices from people that can not leave the name or whatsoever? why do they do that? But for me, I personally have had many issues with James and Nancy on way different situations and some good and some not so good! But one thing, I have noticed between these 2 people they are "Always THERE FOR THE PEOPLE" and that is through good and bad issues the tribe or the entire tribal membership needs to be on very intense communication and I believe that Nancy. She has it all the above! However, I do know we have both butted heads so many times, huh Nancy to even count on fingers. And, for me I personally took that in as constructive criticism and the same situation with James when we had butted heads! These 2 people has been there for everyone within the PUYALLUP TRIBE through all the issues as today and the health and safety with the youth and getting parents/guardians/tribal members involved into day issues which they should be involved for there own self!
So, Nancy and James I wish you very good luck on the upcoming elections and keep your head strong no matter who is trying to knock your strength down! I have seen all of yall around the tribe, peace rallies, youth activities that has been planned for our youth! Everywhere I have been is that I see one of you or all of em. and that right there is what this tribe needs to see 100% TEAMWORK! And this is what it is coming too...
SO GOOD LUCK AND HOPE ALL GOES WELL FOR EVERYONE!
    Thanks,
    Selene Duenas
